OUR STORY

Where Paths Collide…

and Magic Happens!

Akashinga Maasai was founded by Gabrielle Allen, an American filmmaker, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Jackson Rarin Rumpe, a Maasai Village Leader in Kenya, a devoted father, and veteran Wildlife Safari Guide and Toby Storie-Pugh, an explorer and long time international development executive. Curious how this partnership came about?

Akashinga Safari was borne from a chance meeting deep in the Kenyan bush. Gabrielle, while on photo safari in the Maasai Mara, decided with her guide to stop to visit a small boma. It was here that she met a Maasai leader, Jackson Rumpe Rarin, who warmly welcomed them into his community. Jackson’s community focus ignited a powerful sense of purpose in Gabrielle and the start of a friendship and partnership that would span half a world and multiple continents.

At Akashinga Maasai we nurture dreamers and inspire activists. We encourage not just the darers and the doers, the rebels and the renegades, but also those who may be - or think they are! - timid or apprehensive and who just need a helping hand to step out into a wider and a wilder world.

Embark on one of our immersive safari adventures, and at journey’s end, you'll emerge with the grit of a pirate and the heart of an angel, ready to conquer any challenge. You will come to know more of Kenya and of Africa, and how all races are all intimately connected in the most fragile of webs.

You'll return home as an ambassador for our planet, a messenger of our era's most critical call: we are all stewards of this earth and its life, equally responsible for fostering well-being and harmony, now and for generations to come.

With urgency, we champion this truth - our own welfare depends on embracing our roles as guardians of nature's delicate balance. Join us in this vital mission.
