READY TO RUN WILD?

Akashinga Maasai Wildlife Safari is thrilled to welcome you to the Maasai Mara and to introduce you to the animals and people that call the Kenyan savannah home. There are few more magical places on earth!

We are proud to be a Kenyan-formed and operated company and to offer a selection of uniquely curated, authentic safaris. Co-founded by American filmmaker and entrepreneur, Gabrielle Allen, and Maasai Jackson Rarin, their shared passion for Kenya’s native flora and fauna is evident in the joy taken with each and every safari venture out into the bush.

We are currently developing our own safari lodge, to be designed by Pritzker Prize winning architect Francis Kéré. In the meantime we are proud to partner with world-class lodges in the Mara to host our guests.

It is our pleasure and our privilege to be able to share this world with you. Whether this is your first time on safari or you have long-since lost your heart to Africa, you will be sure to leave with your soul refreshed and your spirits soaring!

OUR SAFARIS

Classic Safari

Our Classic Safari is the perfect introduction to the wonders of African wildlife. You will spend five days exploring the Maasai Mara, guided by the experienced eye of Head Guide Jackson Rumpe Rarin. You will begin a lifelong love affair with this magical place.

Photo Safari

Our Photo Safari is perfect for either the budding or the experienced wildlife photographer. Each course will be led by an experienced professional wildlife photographer who will ensure you are in the right spot to get the shot of a lifetime.

Riding Safari

For both experienced and novice equestrians, our riding safari is a wonderful way to get up close to the birds and beasts of the savannah. The horses are well-used to the environment and conditions to be encountered as you ride directly alongside the wildlife.

Honeymoon Safari

There are few more romantic places than the Maasai Mara under a star-glazed sky next to a camp fire, and no more wondrous experiences than watching the sun go down with the love of your life by your side. We invite you to begin your married life or celebration of your union, by creating memories in one of the most exquisite settings you will ever find.

Family Safari

A Family Safari is an incredible way to introduce your children to the wonders of the natural world, to explain to them the delicate balance of the ecosystem we are all reliant on and to immerse them in a brand new culture. Safaris are generally suitable for children older than six years and can be customized to suit your family members and their ages. We also cater to elderly guests who may need extra special care and scheduling.

Walking Safari

Strap on your hiking boots, fill up your water bottles and head out into the bush in the purest fashion possible. Whether single day tours returning to the Lodge at night, or multi-day tours camping on the trail, a walking safari should be on any keen naturalist’s bucket list. Such proximity to African wildlife will leave you awed and humbled.

Akashinga means “The Brave One”

AKASHINGA MAASAI X IMPACT

Maasai Smiling Woman.jpeg

At the heart of the Akashinga Maasai vision is the belief that business should drive positive impact for the world. At the most fundamental level, Jackson is able to leverage his skills and experience to provide for his family and community and to be a bridge to the philanthropic resources needed for more profound community development.

Through the work of Akashinga’s sister organisation - the Kenyan-registered NGO Naserian Foundation - Gabrielle, Jackson and Toby have defined a series of development priorities. A significant infrastructure-building programme for Jackson’s home village of Opalagilagi will set a replicable benchmark for integrated development work that can be exported around the country and the continent, with medical and education being an area of special focus.

Naturally enough, conservation is a high priority for the Foundation. Human impingement on their natural habitat is a constant and evolving threat for many species, in particular the great African elephant whose migration routes are at risk of being permanently severed.

However, conservation initiatives that fail to take into consideration broader community needs and the way that wildlife behaviour directly impacts on human activity are doomed to disappoint in their impact.
